On this highly structured and inspiring five-day course you will create a dummy sample for a publisher submission. This course will also give you the tool kit you need to turn your life story into a fantastic graphic novel.
You will brainstorm your life experiences and shape them into page-turning plots; create thoughtful and compelling characters; and learn to listen to these characters and create original scripts from their voices.
Taking inspiration from Rachel Ball's The Inflatable Woman and WOLF we will explore the process of graphic novel making. You will experiment with and evolve a unique visual style appropriate to your story, developing visual metaphors and other essential artistic devices such as composition, pacing and layout in creating finished samples.
These publisher samples will include a synopsis, character pages, a well-developed and page turning plot, a scripted page, a well composed sample storyboard and a sample finished page from your book.
