A week-long intensive illustration course, concentrating on manual methods including drawing, painting, collage, and stencilling, you will explore an exciting range approaches to drawing people, including:
- Human movement
- Depicting the public on location
- Illustrations of people on given themes (eg: romantic/dramatic/sporting)
The course will suit anyone with some experience of drawing and image making, whether professionally or personally, with an interest in gaining more experience and understanding of this particular area and a willingness to experiment and explore different approaches. About the tutor
Sion Ap Tomos is a Welsh illustrator/designer and educator based in London. He has many years experience working as a freelancer in editorial and reportage illustration, mainly focusing on figurative work. He also occasionally draws for a variety of other media including film and advertising. Additionally he regularly collaborates on illustration based projects with schools, museums and hospitals. He has also worked in education since 2000 teaching at Foundation, BA and MA levels predominantly for Central Saint Martins, UAL and has been devising and running practical short courses for 10 years. He has also worked with House of illustration since 2012 teaching on workshops, courses and projects for people of all ages since 2012. Sion gained a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design/Illustration at Central Saint Martins college of Art and Design and an MA in Visual Communication at the Royal College of Art, London.
